Why I am so passionate about my job.
Whilst my childhood was full of fun, travel, education and a strong sense of work ethic there was also a darker side to my growing up. My family background was steeped in addictions of all kinds, which impacted my beliefs and behaviour through-out my life. My mother took me to a counsellor when I was a child, for which I am very grateful. She had the insight to recognise that there were virtues and vices within our family system and she wanted to give me different opportunities than she grew up with. I continued therapy during my adolescence and as a young adult. As a therapist I am a strong believer of “walking the talk”. I think my experiences during childhood and throughout my own process of change has made me a more compassionate practitioner.
