I am also familiar with and supportive of integrating the 12 step recovery model into therapy for addictions.
Couples Counselling
It is not unusual to face challenges within long term relationships. Couples therapy offers an opportunity to work through issues related to:
Communication
Physical intimacy or affection
Emotional intimacy
Conflict resolution and arguments
A breakdown of trust (e.g. infidelity, emotional affairs, lies or deception about money)
The impacts of an addiction
Parenting challenges
Couples counselling is not about having someone there to decide who is right or wrong, tell you what to do or use persuasion to stay together or to separate. Rather, therapy can assist couples to understand each other, find middle ground and take action to change unhelpful relationship patterns.
